keep your concrete looking good with expert sealing
Having your concrete professionally cleaned is a great start, but if you want that sharp, just-done look to last, sealing is the next step. Unsealed concrete is porous, which means dirt returns faster, mould creeps back in, and everyday spills soak straight into the surface.
At Surface Rescue, we apply high-performance concrete sealers across Adelaide that help your driveway, patio or path resist stains, grime and weather damage, without yellowing, peeling or filling your yard with chemical fumes.

Concrete Surfaces We
Seal Across Adelaide
A clean gets you back to square one. Sealing gives your concrete a fighting chance to stay that way. Here are the concrete surfaces that we seal:
Driveways & Pathways
High-traffic zones cop the most punishment. Sealing stops oil, tyre marks and grime from soaking in, so cleaning is quicker and easier for years to come.
Exposed Aggregate
Exposed aggregate is a premium finish that deserves protection. Our sealers preserve the detail, resist UV fade, and keep the textured surface easier to hose off and maintain.
Patios & Entertaining Areas
Ideal for BBQ zones and outdoor kitchens. Sealed concrete shrugs off food spills, grease and drink stains, so your space stays sharp for guests.
Concrete Pool Surrounds
Keeps chlorine, water staining and mould at bay, while helping the surface stay safe underfoot rather than becoming slippery over time.

Frequently Asked
Questions
- I've seen sealers go milky or start peeling over time. Do yours do that?
No, and here’s why.
That cloudy or peeling look usually happens with older-style, solvent-based sealers, the kind you’ll often find at hardware stores. Those sealers sit on top of the surface and don’t let the concrete breathe. So when moisture pushes up from below, it gets trapped, and the sealer goes milky, bubbles or peels off.
We use modern, penetrating sealers that are designed to be breathable. They soak into the concrete rather than forming a skin on top, which means moisture can still pass through without damaging the finish.
No hazing. No peeling. No headaches.
- How often should I reseal my concrete surfaces?
It depends on how much use the area gets, but every 3–5 years is a good rule of thumb.
Driveways and other high-traffic zones usually need resealing closer to 3 years. Lighter-use areas like footpaths and patios can go 5 years or more.
The sealers we use are high-quality penetrating products built to last, not cheap coatings that flake off in a year. But like anything exposed to weather and wear, a bit of maintenance goes a long way. We’ll give you advice specific to your slab once the job’s done, so you’ll know exactly when to plan for a reseal.
- What maintenance does sealed concrete need?
Sealing makes your concrete much easier to live with, but it isn’t set and forget.
You’ll still need to clean up spills as they happen, especially oil, grease and food, and give the area a solid clean once a year to keep it looking fresh.
The real benefit is how much easier day-to-day maintenance becomes. Drop oil off the BBQ onto sealed concrete, and it wipes straight off. On an unsealed slab, there’s a good chance it stains. We’ll let you know what your surface needs based on the product used and where it sits.
- I want to change the colour of my concrete, will your sealers do that?
Not dramatically, and that’s by design.
A sealer isn’t paint. Ours will slightly enhance the natural colour of your concrete, and if you want a richer, darker tone, we can go with a satin or wet look finish. For wet look, we use Guard Industry Wet Finish Premium, rated to last 10 years rather than the 12–24 months you’ll get from budget products, which are the ones that tend to go milky or peel.
If you’re after a genuine colour change, concrete resurfacing is the service you want, not sealing.
- What's the difference between the sealers you use and the ones from the hardware store?
It comes down to quality, performance and peace of mind. Cheaper hardware store sealers look like a good deal upfront, but they come with a lot of risk:
- They’re moisture-sensitive, so if the slab isn’t perfectly dry the sealer can haze or fail straight away
- They’re not breathable, so trapped moisture turns them milky or makes them peel
- They don’t penetrate well, so they sit on top and can actually make the surface more slippery
- They’re loaded with solvents, so they stink out the area while they’re going down and curing
And if a cheap sealer fails, fixing it isn’t cheap. It has to be stripped off, which is messy and labour-intensive, then the surface re-cleaned and resealed properly. Far more expensive than doing it right the first time.
The sealers we use are made for long-term performance: more tolerant of moisture (many can go onto a damp surface), breathable, properly penetrating, and low odour. We only work with products we trust to hold up, not just look good for a few months.
- Why should I seal my concrete surfaces?
Because unsealed concrete is porous, and that’s a gamble you usually don’t know you’ve lost until it’s too late. Dirt returns faster, mould creeps back in, and everyday spills soak straight into the slab.
What sealing gives you:
- Easier maintenance, because a sealed slab doesn’t absorb grime
- Better stain resistance against oil, tyre marks, BBQ grease and drink spills
- Slower regrowth, because algae and mould don’t take hold as easily
- Protection from weather, UV fade and general wearLonger between cleans and fewer deep stains
It won’t make the concrete bulletproof, and you’ll still need to clean it, but it makes life a whole lot easier and helps the surface last years longer.
- Does sealing make a surface slippery when wet?
It can, if the wrong product is used. A glossy or solvent-heavy sealer from the hardware store sits on top of the surface and can make it more slippery than before.
We use specialised, penetrating sealers matched to the surface and the environment, so you get the protection without the slip. Around pool surrounds, it helps keep chlorine, water staining, and mould at bay so the concrete stays safe underfoot rather than getting slippery over time.
